Default Mental Ray Maya 2010 - Random Transparent rendersquares

i all, im getting theese Random bad frames (appr. 3 frames in a 200 frames animation) When Rendering with mental ray for Maya 2010.

The errors are always the last squares that mental ray renders. And if i render a frame that i know is bad like this, mental ray stops working and render every frame afterwards like this, just the whole frame is wrong not just the last rendered squares and i have to restart maya to be able to render normal again.

I can render the same frame from a different camera angle without problems, but swapping the camera with a new one with same angle still gives the bad frames. It doesnt matter what computer in the farm that render the frame all gives theese bad frames.

I found a solution but its not an optimal solution, after rendering i detect all the bad frames and If my Primary render is set to Raytracing, i change the Primary Render to Scanline.
If my Primary render is set to Scanline i change it to Raytracing and rerender the bad frames and they come out perfect.

When rendering im not getting close to using all memory on any machines.

The bottle consists of 3 layers of Geometry with 3 different shaders.
Outer layer (droplets) is a Mia_Material with displacement drops and a cutout map.
middle layer (bottle) is a dielectric_material
Inner layer (Fluid) is a dielectric_material.

Im working om Mac os X 10.5.8

Has anyone had similar problems or have a solution, and will mental Ray 3.8 for maya 2011 give me the same problems?

Default Mental Ray Maya 2010 - Random Transparent rendersquares

    Hi ztix,

did you get this solved? i have almost exactly the same problem. i don't even have to change the settings when i want to rerender. if i just start the rerender with the fame where the batch render started to show the problem it renders fine the next few frames and starts to fail after a random number of frames again. I would be so much interested to a solution.

    cheers.

    Alex.

    Hi, guys!
I came across this thread because I have almost the same problem. I'm using maya 2012 and it won't render things behind transparent or translucent mia_material; there the image is transparent or semitransparent. It's a problem that appears just batch rendering and not in the render view; further more the same scene is not rendered in the same way. All Reflections and refractions are set on 7 and ray depth limit on 14 for objetcs like a glass with a liquid or even a simple glass. I can't understand what I'am doing wrong. Thank you for any suggestion.
    Cheers.

Have you considered command line rendering? Also do you have optimized textures on or off?
