Default Mental Ray 3.10 feature list inquiry

I see that mental images has released a feature list for mental ray 3.10 on the front page. This is very nice! I don't recall having seen such "commercial approach" for Mental Ray before. Could be me becoming blind though

But anywho. What struck me, was this bit:
    - Rendering made much more robust and reliable
    - Improved scalability to available number of CPUs or Cores
    - Improved dynamic adjustment to available memory
    - Optimized memory handling for more efficient multi-threading

Does this mean that mental ray is working faster & and more robust in the new 3.10 version?
And if that's the case, is this limited to the standalone version or can this improvement be found in the OEM versions as well?

These are all things that are related to the core. Theoretically it should be available to even OEM builds.

Sometimes these changes are visible across all kinds of scenes, other times they are only visible on certain kinds based on different factors like complexity, instancing, texture usage, etc. It depends on the part of the core that was touched.

probably true, a good news like a "comet" that make me forget the long ADSK integration coffee break.

Unified in 3.10 is about 10-15% faster on average.

From 3.8 to 3.9 the raytracer was faster for me.

Both of those are integration independent.

Just depends on what you use and the types of scenes you create most often.

I really have to start working with unified at some point then. Thanks for the heads up

unified solves high intensity reflections way better.
you can use less samples now compared to 3.9 and speed increase can go up to 50 percent in extrem situations with lots of fine lines or tiny details because it solves this better.

Yes. We focused on resolving issues especially in the area of multi-threading and memory handling.

Such fixes done in mental ray core are available in all products like Standalone and Library/OEM versions. In fact, some of these bugs were reported through Autodesk by users of their products.

    Best, Steve.
