Default iray Material for 3ds Max

Lately, we've been busy piecing together a 3ds Max plugin that provides access to iray's powerful material model. Here we are, with a material plugin that features (amongst other things):

    • 3 layers: Glossy Coating, Metallic Flakes, Glossy/Diffuse/Transparent Base
    • Backscattering (for realistic fabrics)
    • Metallic flakes (for great car paint)
    • Sub-surface scattering
    • Thin film coating
    • Spectral dispersion
    • Anisotropy on each layer
    • Emission (self-illuminance)
    • Displacement, bump, round corners, cutout

The package contains documentation an binaries for both 32-bit and 64-bit. It is compatible with 3ds Max 2013. You may download it on our ftp:
    ftp://ftp.mental.com/pub/iray_material_plugin_1.2.zip

Please be sure to read the documentation before you proceed, especially the "Known Issues" section.

    cheers,

This looks great, but I wish I could download it. What are the rules on this forum to allow me to download attachments? If such information is available, it should be made more noticeable. I'm happy to have this post deleted since once this is resolved since it is off-topic. I cannot see any "general" forum on here to post this in.

Thanks you, but can you post the direct link, I don't know why, but i can't download this plugin, I have a message telling me I have no privilege to do that.

Any chance I could get permission to download the file? Thanks!

This looks outstanding ! Heard about it from Jeff Patton's post (on FaceBook). I'd luv to get a chance to try it out, although I was unable to download the iray zip file due to permissions.
    Thank you!

Thanks for creating this material and providing it to the public!

Note: After posting the announcement of this on my own website I'm getting peppered with emails from people that can't download the package from here (permission issues). The download from the forum here works fine for me, perhaps there's an approval delay for new forum members though? At any rate I read in the PDF that it could be redistributed without modifications so I posted a copy of it on my website to help those that have contacted me directly.

We're going to move the package to our FTP server as soon as we can (sometime tomorrow), in the meantime I apologize for the trouble.

Feel free to re-distribute it as-is.

    Thanks jeff!
