    Default compiled add_color shader not showing up in 3ds max

    Hi, ive downloaded the examples from www.writingshaders.com and ive managed to build with vs2010 the add_colors.dll but now i want to use it in 3ds max 2013.

    I read that i need to put the dll file in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\NVIDIA\shaders_autoload\mentalray\shaders
    and the .mi file in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\NVIDIA\shaders_autoload\mentalray\include

    but the shader is not appearing in the material editor in 3ds max.

    Can anybody tell me what is wrong?

    1. Place add_colors.dll to "Max_install_dir" C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\NVIDIA\shaders_autoload\mentalray\shaders
    2. Place add_colors.mi to "Max_install_dir" C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\NVIDIA\shaders_autoload\mentalray\include
    3. And add these lines to standart.mi file: in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\NVIDIA\shaders_standard\mentalray

    link "add_colors.dll"
    mi "add_colors.mi"
