    Question:
    Where can I find the Iray for Maya documentation??
    Answer:
    Please open "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Iray For Maya 2016\docs\index.html"
    This will open the documentation in a web browser.


    Question:
    Is there a version for Maya 2016 only?
    Answer:
    Yes. For the time being only Iray For Maya 2016 is available from NVidia. This version of IFM contains the newest version of Iray.


    Question:
    Is Iray for Maya only available for Windows?
    Answer:
    For the time being - yes. A Linux version will follow in January


    Question:
    Will there be a MAC version?
    Answer:
    A MAC version for Iray For Maya is not planned


    Question:
    Pressing the render button shows only a black image in the Render View?
    Answer:
    Iray For Maya is not supporting Maya standard lights yet. This will be added in the next versions. The reason for that is Iray being a physically based rendering engine where typical CG lighting is not a good fit. You need to use one or a combination of the environment light types (ifmHosekSykylight or ifmImageBasedLighting) to light the scene.
    You may also assign a light emitting material as there are ifmSpotEmitter, ifmOmniEmitter or ifmIesEmitter to geometry to add lighting to your scene.


    Question:
    I cannot see any textures in the OpenGL viewport
    Answer:
    This is not yet supported but is planned for the next version.


    Question:
    How can I add my own MDL libraries to the system?
    Answer:
    Yes, The ifmMDL Material that allows you to load arbitrary MDL Materials. Plese refer to the documentation to learn about the locations were to put you MDL files.


    Question
    My saved image looks different than my image in the Render View?
    Answer:
    You have to distinguish two different workflows with the new color management in Maya.
    The new functionality in Maya offers a linear workflow. Going this path you tone map your imagery later in an application like Photoshop or Nuke. Maya just offers the ability to have a preview in the viewport that is tone mapped locally, but does not change the saved image at all. The IFM plugin had this functionality already in IFM 2015, so there is a redundancy with exactely the same settings in the IFM control box. So please use either the Maya Render View or the IFM Control Box to adjust Exposure or Gamma.
    If you like to write out tone mapped images you need to use Iray’s internal photographic tonemapper, which delivers tone mapped images to the viewport. This one can be found in the camera settings.


    Question:
    I closed my ifmControlBox – how can I gt it back?
    Answer:
    Right click on the dotted line and put a checkmark near the IFM Control Box entry to get it back

    It seems that some MAya nodes are not supported by Iray For Maya?
    Answer:
    Right, some nodes are not yet supported but there will be as many nodes supported in the future as possible. Please check the documentation to learn which nodes are supported:
