Default MR for Maya 2017 Windows Unattended Install

    Hi,
Im just adding Mental ray for Maya Windows 2017 to our build server scripts

Im calling the install with the following arguments

    setup /s /passive /n /noeula /nofinish

This works ok with one exception.
If I run the setup manually i get an option to untick and not run the professional application centre straight away.

However if you run it silently there is no obvious way of stopping this and it runs automatically as part of the install. This then keeps the install process open on our installation manager and stops our build from continuing.

So my question is from an unattended install how do i stop the professional application centre from starting

    Thanks
    Marcus

Good question. Looking into this. We want to make a guide for installing larger groups of computers for educational institutions and larger facilities.

This means perhaps a slightly different for the plugin and standalone. Where standalone presumably may be all by itself on a render farm, so that we need to collect the plugin dlls to distribute.

Yes, thanks for the reminder. There are many nuances to the idea of Silent/Unattended installation, as we have determined in our attempt to document this. In addition to both a plugin and a synchronized standalone installer and updating mechanism, our NVPAC has also been evolving in its development, so putting it all together may take us more than we anticipated. But all for the better.

Atomicphase, what is your particular situation? Windows plugin installation only? Across a large number of computers? Will you always manually update? Or might you have a single prototype machine that updates to the latest version we offer? That through the UI.

Are these licensed plugins running production rendering?
Note that if you have a license, you can always get the full latest downloads without using the update at our NVIDIA Software Licensing Center under the Product Information ting. Click on the mental ray listing. and currently you'll see
    mental ray for Maya v1.0
    mental ray for Maya v1.0.1

So this will also help those that update to the latest and decide they want to roll it back for a given production. For example, we are already beta testing 1.1, which we hope most users will update to, when it comes out. But we understand if a production has started, and needs to remain on a given version.

Sorry for the late reply. We have a education license where we want to install it remotely using Altiris. We would like for this to happen silently and also without the nvidia application manager. The computers we would be installing it to is only 16 computers. We would prefer to not have to manually update.

Hi, we are hitting the same problem as OP. Is there currently a way to install the Windows plugin silently without it launching the Application Center? We're trying to install mentalray-Maya2017-v1.2-Windows64.exe

    Our environment/requirements:

    Education environment
    Deploying to 100+ computers
Maya 2017 and 2018 plugins only
Ideally we would like to do future updates manually rather than using the Application Center
